Envision will get a new line-up for Season 13 of Formula E

Envision Formula E Team has unveiled an all-new driver pairing for Season 13 and beyond, signing seven-time race winner Maximilian Guenther alongside British rising star Zak O’Sullivan.

The double announcement confirms a complete overhaul at the Silverstone-based squad as Formula E prepares to introduce its faster, all-wheel-drive GEN4 machinery.

Guenther joins the team on a multi-year contract following eight seasons in the electric championship.

The 29-year-old German brings a proven track record, boasting seven victories, 12 podiums, and four pole positions.

He also claimed victory in Formula E’s inaugural Pit Boost race at the Season 11 Jeddah E-Prix.

“Season 13 is going to be an important year for all teams; learning the GEN4 car as well as a new sporting format, which is going to put an even bigger focus on outright pace and speed,” said Sylvain Filippi, Managing Director and CTO of Envision.

Guenther expressed confidence in the team’s technical foundation, which utilises a Jaguar powertrain package.

“I’m very happy to become a Paysafe Envision Formula E driver for the GEN4 era and I really look forward to our future together,” Guenther stated.

“The team has a very successful history in Formula E and exceptional quality throughout the organisation.

“Our aim is to combine our strengths and achieve great success, competing at the very top. I truly believe we have all the ingredients to build something really special together.”

“What convinced me about the project was the great environment, the high ambition of the team, the mindset and, of course, the excellent technical package together with Jaguar,” he added.

“I’m proud to become part of the team and have a fantastic feeling about our future.”

A rookie completes the line-up at Envision

Completing the line-up is 21-year-old O’Sullivan, who earns a promotion to a full-time race seat after serving as the team’s development driver.

The former GB3 champion and FIA Formula 2 race winner spent Season 12 embedding himself within the squad through simulator work and multiple rookie test sessions in Jeddah, Berlin, Miami, and Madrid.

“We are very happy to announce Zak as a full-time driver for Season 13 and beyond,” Filippi said.

“We’ve spent a lot of time with him during Season 12, and he has established himself in the team very well. We have been very impressed with Zak’s performance, both on the track during the rookie sessions, and his commitment off-track.

“We are very much looking forward to seeing him race in our car and embarking on his rookie season in Formula E with us.”

O’Sullivan views the transition to GEN4 as the ideal moment to make his series debut.

“I am very excited to be joining the team full-time for the upcoming season,” O’Sullivan said. “I’ve spent the last year embedding myself into the team and can’t wait to get the season started in the new GEN4 car.

“Formula E is a championship I’ve had my sights set on for a long time, so to be joining the grid for Season 13 at such an exciting time for the sport is a great feeling.”

By pairing Guenther’s established race-winning experience with O’Sullivan’s raw potential, Envision establishes a balanced, forward-looking foundation to lead its charge into Formula E’s next generation.
