Andrea Kimi Antonelli has opened up about his title credentials as he believes he “can beat anyone” he needs to, to secure the 2026 Formula 1 title.
Antonelli’s stellar rise to the very top of the 2026 F1 driver’s standings has been nothing short of a spectacle.
At only 19, and in only his second full-time season, the Italian racing prodigy secured his maiden Grand Prix win at the Shanghai International Circuit.
He backed it up with a dominant showing at the Japanese GP – his back-to-back triumphs propelling him nine points clear of team-mate George Russell in the championship standings.
Speaking to BILD Antonelli opened up on the immediate effects of his sudden rise.
“It’s easy to lose focus and get carried away when everyone’s celebrating you,” he said.
“But I’ve also noticed that expectations of me have changed drastically.”

‘I can beat anyone’ – Kimi Antonelli’s defiant warning to F1 rivals
The 19-year-old is acutely aware that raw pace, something he seems to have in spades, isn’t going to guarantee him the title alone.
Looking ahead to the remainder of the season, Antonelli highlighted how his lack of experience can be an impediment against experienced rivals like Russell.
That said, he isn’t going to get bogged down by what he cannot control. Instead, his two victories to date will serve him well in reminding him that he can challenge and beat the top dogs when it comes down to the wire.
“Experience is my biggest weakness compared to drivers like George [Russell], no question. You can’t buy that,” Antonelli surmised.
“But I’m confident that I’d still have a chance if the opportunity arose. I’ve been working towards this for many years, and my [first] victory showed that I can beat anyone if I perform to my potential.”
Antonelli also explained how the Silver Arrows will be key in ensuring that he displays consistent performances at the highest level of single-seater, open-wheel motorsport.
“To do that, I need to get the basics right,” he concluded. “My team and I constantly remind ourselves of that.”
Heading into the Miami GP, next weekend, Antonelli has had five weeks of F1’s ‘Spring Break’ to whittle down the positives of his back-to-back wins in a bid to replicate this form throughout the 2026 campaign.
