Lando Norris was requested to stop drinking a can of Coca-Cola in the cooldown room after the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, and the reigning World Champion let them know exactly what he though.

Norris finished third in the race at the new Madring circuit, losing the lead after a poorly timed Virtual Safety Car denied him a cheap pit stop.

That, combined with a comparatively slow pit stop too, saw Norris re-emerge. behind Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who took victory, with Max Verstappen second.

The challenging new street circuit and temperatures reaching over 30 degrees would have seen drivers reach in their reserves to finish the race, and their in-car drinks bottles likely empty.

What the official said to Norris wasn’t caught on camera, as he was sat between Antonelli and Verstappen, but the Brit told the Italian that he might get told off.

He then pushed back when asked to put the drink away, with the 28-year-old saying: “I just did a race, so I’m allowed to drink what I would like. Thank you so much.”

The exchange was filmed and spread quickly on social media. Ironically enough, if an official hadn’t pointed out the can, it likely would’ve flown under the radar for the audience.

Sunday’s race drew widespread criticism from fans and drivers for being uneventful, with only four overtakes across the whole GP.
