Daniel Ricciardo’s response to F1 comeback with Cadillac

Daniel Ricciardo has been tipped for an F1 return with Cadillac

Australian Formula 1 favourite, Daniel Ricciardo, aka the “Honey-badger”, has sparked fresh debate about his future in F1 following his dismissal of a potential return to the grid with Cadillac in 2026. He has all but officially declared his retirement from the sport.

Despite stepping away from full-time racing earlier in the 2024 season, he remained a prominent figure in the Formula 1 world because of his charisma. Many fans of motor racing had hoped to see Ricciardo return to the grid in the near future.

Apart from driving, Ricciardo is associated with top brands, which makes him a valuable asset in marketing campaigns for a potential future team. These campaigns might extend into the betting and gaming sectors.

Fans who want to explore the thrill of motorsports betting can turn to the best betting sites not on Gamstop that offer a diverse range of markets and competitive odds. They may no longer be able to bet on the outcome of Daniel’s races, but there are 20 other drivers on the grid.

Three words: “Nah I’m Done”

These were Ricciardo’s latest remarks about his future come as Cadillac prepares to join the Formula 1 grid in collaboration with Andretti Autosport. The prospect of the US-based team entering the sport had fuelled speculation about which drivers would join their lineup.

Honey-badger fans hoped that Ricciardo’s many years of experience and international appeal might make him a top choice. However, during a fan meet-and-greet in New York for his clothing brand, Enchante, Ricciardo quickly squashed all rumours with just three words: “Nah, I’m done.”

This statement left many fans wondering about what the future holds for the Australian racer. Cadillac’s entry into Formula 1 is still two years away, but their announcement to join has already sparked excitement across motorsport circles.

Although many speculated that Ricciardo would take one of the seats, others guessed that the team would favour younger talent.

And Ricciardo’s dismissal of Cadillac suggests his retirement, although his name will likely keep cropping up in Formula 1-related conversations until it is formally announced.

Ricciardo is a sought-after personality off the track too, both in the motorsport and entertainment industries. Perhaps, as a free agent, he will be able to explore new opportunities beyond Formula 1. Many former drivers have entered broadcasting, coaching, or other racing ventures.

Cadillac’s 2026 strategy

Cadillac is reportedly seeking a pair of experienced drivers, likely American talent. Mario Andretti, Cadillac’s advisor, has hinted that the team is looking to combine a young driver with a more experienced one.

Ricciardo’s name is no longer in the hat, but potential candidates include rising motorsport stars Colton Herta and Andrea Kimi Antonelli, along with experienced drivers Kevin Magnussen and Valtteri Bottas, both of who don’t have seats in the 2025 season.
