Isack Hadjar was forced to sit out the F1 Dutch GP due to a recent wrist injury

In light of his recent wrist injury, Formula 1 driver Isack Hadjar turned to MotoGP legend Marc Marquez for advice.

Isack Hadjar was forced to sit out the F1 Dutch GP following a recent wrist injury. Liam Lawson had to step in for the Red Bull driver, while Yuki Tsunoda stepped in for Lawson at the sister team. The hope is for Hadjar to be back in the RB22 for the Italian GP, but the team has yet to confirm this.

The Red Bull driver has been massively impressive for the first half of his 2026 campaign. While the injury came at an inconvenient time, as the second half of the F1 season began, choosing to withdraw from Zandvoort allowed the driver to rest his wrist in hopes of healing it.

Marquez’s advice to Hadjar

Despite being in different sports, Hadjar sought out none other than MotoGP rider Marc Marquez in news of the injury. Marquez is quite familiar with what is needed to push to the limit, as the rider is a seven-time World Champion.

With his slew of injuries over the years, the Ducati rider knows what it feels like to sit on the sidelines and how to bounce back successfully. The MotoGP rider revealed to the official MotoGP website that Hadjar had contacted him about his injury.

“Hadjar contacted me,” Marquez began. “I’m not a doctor, of course, but just [for] advice because sometimes for a rider, driver in this case, it’s super difficult because sometimes you feel that ‘okay, maybe I can’, but it’s difficult to accept that ‘okay, I will jump [skip] the race and I will prepare in a better way for the next one.’

“I learned in the past that missing one race will not change your life. Missing [more] or [a] worsening injury because you ride too early, it can change your life.

“My life changed a lot since the Jerez injury, so I tried to give that advice to Isack. I think he took the correct decision because he has a long career in front [of him].”

Marquez referred back to his life-changing injury in Jerez in 2020, when he broke his right humerus. The accident led to several surgeries, and the rider was forced to miss the rest of the season. Despite Hadjar’s situation being different, Marquez’s advice remains immensely valuable for the driver to bear in mind.
