Lewis Hamilton has dismissed suggestions from Max Verstappen and Red Bull that he and Mercedes’ British Grand Prix celebrations were “disrespectful.”

Hamilton claimed victory in front of his home supporters at Silverstone, sparking enthusiastic celebrations, following a controversial first-lap collision with title rival Verstappen.

Verstappen suffered a 51g impact following their clash, for which Hamilton was ruled predominantly to blame, and was hospitalised for precautionary checks.

Verstappen and Red Bull criticised the celebrations in the aftermath of the race and on Thursday the Dutchman reiterated his anger, suggesting it “shows how they really are” and that he “wouldn’t want to be seen like that.”

Hamilton, though, rejected such criticism.

“As I said at the last race I really was not aware,” he said. “I saw on the screen that he had got out of the car and he looked OK and I was told he was fine.

“I wasn’t aware until the media press pens afterwards that he had visited the hospital. None of us ever want to see another driver injured, or in harm’s way, or put another driver in harm’s way.

“I don’t believe our behaviour was disrespectful. I wasn’t aware. But its my home grand prix and we worked incredibly hard for God knows how long to get a result like that and what a monumental moment it was for us to experience the whole home crowd being there for the first time since last year was missed.

“Emotions were running high. It wasn’t an intentional celebration, it was just the joy of seeing so many people and so many people celebrating, being together. That’s the natural emotion.

“I’m not going to hide my emotions. It was an amazing feeling to see so many people.”

Yeah they worked incredibly hard on the front left suspension so it would hold up to the planned torpedo move.

Hamilton has turned into a horrible Douchebag. Hope he loses the WC this year and every year after

You are a horrible douchebag for saying this, just like the Verstappens. I hope Hamilton gets enough and beats the shit out of Max. That is something the whole world would like to see.

Hamilton’s attitude confirms my conviction, expressed here at the time, that had Hamilton killed Verstappen in that incident, which may well have happened because the Red Bull could easily have flipped and rolled at that speed, he wouldn’t have been in the least bothered about it.

As he shouldn’t be. Max is a danger to everyone on the grid- if they try to pass him. He is a hack-

Seriously folks? For the longest time I could not watch a Formula 1 race. The pole sitter seemed to win every race if he was first to the corner. Admittedly, I better understand the intricacies and strategy better and truly enjoy the races more.
But, this Red Bull onslaught is just garbage. Max is one of the most aggressive drivers on the planet. He has caused many racing incidents by himself. This is a race after all. Quit whining just because you are finally able to compete with Mercedes doesn’t mean they have to roll over. Leave your skirt at home this week Max and RACE.

It’s not about the racing, it’s about Hamilton’s attitude over the last years. he plays this innocent angel suck-up and got people pissed off because he’s not genuine. If you look closely everyone is talking about him, as a person, and not Mercedes, F1 or who wins the race.

        Oh stop already….
Things haven’t gotten his way in the past and just like other great racers he took it to the track and won the next races to win the title…..
You can’t cry your way to the title Max
Buck up and prove your point by winning the next races and a title because Lewis has 7…..

P.S. to the fans that don’t understand it’s natural for people to love or hate you when you’re the champ….. So when you’ve won 7 titles haters gonna hate….. But it doesn’t make Lewis a bad person because you can’t beat him…..

Verstappens wilder moments were as a teenager, as he gained experience they disappeared and he hasn’t been in trouble for about three years. Hamilton has been in Formula One for fourteen years and has seven titles to his name, yet he still persistently cheats and drives in a manner which endangers the drivers around him. Hamilton does not care whether he injures, or worse, those he forces off the track.

You are full of it. Max is a Hack at best- has to be a threat to crash people trying to pass him to have any success. Hamilton should just beat the crap out of this punk kid and be done with him.
