Marc VDS rider Jake Dixon produced the goods to prevail in the restarted Malaysia Moto2 race.
The British rider took the lead in the opening laps and never looked back, with David Alonso and Barry Baltus rounding off the podium.
Polesitter Daniel Holgado launched off the line with an impressive start and cleared off from the rest of the field into Turn 1.
His team-mate Alonso and Marc VDS rider Dixon locked into battle, but the CFMoto rider won the first lap battle.
Daniel Munoz and Darryn Binder both had a collision earlier that lap, as the latter was the sole rider to retire.
Further behind, American Racing rider Joe Roberts crashed out at Turn 15 after high-siding on the curb, falling directly underneath the bike and picking up a visible wrist injury. His incident caused an early red flag on Lap 2.
The restart was an 11-lap mini-race, with Holgado once again maintaining the lead with British rider Dixon behind.
Dixon and Arenas locked into battle, but this promoted CFMoto rider Alonso into third place behind the British rider.
Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez lost two places when he ran wide, dropping from fourth to sixth place.
Dixon’s speed was evident as he closed right to the back of his Spanish rival, before overtaking to take the lead at Turn 4.
He looked comfortable out front throughout the next few laps, but the battle behind was the most exciting.
Columbian rider Alonso was in third and under pressure from Barry Baltus and Gonzalez behind, but pushed a small gap as Baltus and Gonzalez switched positions on Lap 6.
On Lap 7, Alonso made a successful move on his team-mate Holgado to take second place. But the main talking point occurred further behind as title rival Diogo Moreira claimed sixth place, one position behind Gonzalez.
The championship duo are now separated by just three points, but the big question was whether the Brazilian rider could find a way through despite his late-race pace.
However, it proved irrelevant as Gonzalez crashed out on Lap 8 at Turn 15, promoting Moreira to the championship lead.
Out front, Dixon crossed the line to claim victory by an impressive 2s margin over CFMoto’s Alonso and Baltus.
Holgado took fourth spot after starting on pole, closely followed by Moreira and Gresini’s Alberto Arenas.
Munoz took seventh after his incident with Roberts, with team-mate Colin Veijer close behind in eighth.
Tony Arbolino and Izan Guevara finished in 10th and 11th place for Blu Cru Pramac Yamaha, respectively.
Celestino Vietti finished in 12th, while Ivan Ortola, Alonso Lopez and Aron Canet closed out the points scoring positions.
