Incumbent Moto3 championship leader Maximo Quiles will be promoted to the CFMoto Aspar Moto2 team for the 2027 season.

The Spaniard has dominated the Moto3 class this season and enters the summer break with a comfortable and commanding 104-point championship lead.

Aside from an 11th-place finish at Mugello, Quiles has stood on the podium in every race this season, claiming six victories.

With Daniel Holgado confirmed to be joining Gresini Ducati in MotoGP in 2027, the Aspar team has selected Quiles as his replacement.

“We’re delighted to be able to compete with Maximo Quiles in Moto2. This year he’s been the rider to beat in Moto3, and we’re going to keep working hard over the coming months to finish the season as champions before making the leap to the intermediate category,” stated Jorge Martinez Aspar.

“We believe he is ready for all the challenges that lie ahead, and we know that together we can give our very best.

“Furthermore, with Maximo’s move to Moto2 – just as we did with Arenas, Guevara and Alonso – we are continuing to consolidate our rider development model from grassroots level right through to the World Championship, one of the hallmarks of the CFMOTO Aspar Team.”

“I’m really motivated and can’t wait to try out the Moto2 bike – I’m really looking forward to it,” said the 18-year-old.

“I think it’s going to be a bike that really suits my style and is great fun. I’m tall and have long arms, so I think this type of bike will suit me well.

“It’s been a very good first half of the year, to be honest. We’re all very happy with these results. The whole team’s work has been, and continues to be, excellent, and things have gone very well for me too.

“What I was clear about was that our aim was to be leaders of the category. At the moment there’s quite a points gap, but I hadn’t thought about exactly how many – it didn’t matter to me whether it was one, fifty or a hundred points.

“The important thing is to keep the same mindset.”
