Sky F1 pit lane reporter Ted Kravitz claims people are “bonkers” if they think Racing Bulls will drop Liam Lawson for the 2027 season.
The Kiwi has impressed during this season, in what is his first full season with the Faenza-based squad – or at least would have been, if not for his enforced substitution of Isack Hadjar at sister team Red Bull earlier in the season.
Lawson has amassed 75 points so far, heralding continuing improvement and placing Racing Bulls firmly into the conversation of the midfield battle.
But the Red Bull satellite outfit is crucially a team for helping to breed the young talent in its driver academy programme, and many talented drivers are waiting in the wings, including Formula 2 title hopeful, Nikola Tsolov.
The Bulgarian has been linked with a move up to F1 with the team across the summer, but Kravitz believes the status quo will be retained, given Lawson’s results and performances.

“Well done, Liam Lawson. What a great kid this is,” he began on his Ted’s Notebook show after the Singapore GP.
“And whoever thought that he’s going to lose his place to Nikola Tsolov must be bonkers, really, because there’s no way they’re going to get rid of Liam Lawson when he’s delivering results like this.
“And maybe you could argue actually that with that P7 today, Liam has guaranteed his job for 2027 and maybe beyond.”
Team Principal Alan Permane has said a decision will be made over “the coming weeks,” over which duo out of Lawson, the rookie sensation Arvid Lindblad and F2 driver Tsolov will get the nod for 2027.
Permane said that it was common knowledge he had “two amazing drivers” at his disposal, adding: “We have a fantastic driver in Formula 2 [Tsolov] at the moment, all are ready to go.
“Unfortunately, three doesn’t fit into two. We’re just going to take a bit more time to make sure we have the right pairing for next season.”
