Dino Beganovic will step away from Formula 2 to join Ferrari’s reserve driver roster for the 2027 Formula 1 season.
Beganovic has been a long-standing member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, with the Maranello-based squad supporting him for seven years of his junior career.
While wearing the Prancing Horse’s logo, the Swedish-Bosnian driver finished third in the Italian F4 Championship in 2020 and won the FRECA title in 2022.
In 2023, he moved up to F3, where he spent two seasons and finished sixth in the championship both years. His move to F2 yielded mixed results; he finished seventh in 2025 but improved in 2026, picking up back-to-back victories and fighting further up the order. Currently, he sits fifth in the standings with two rounds remaining.
Despite his long tenure with Ferrari’s support, he was passed over for a full-time race seat by Rafael Camara, who’s just been announced as the next Haas driver alongside fellow FDA graduate Oliver Bearman.

Beganovic’s journey to F1 is not over yet
Camara’s promotion over Beganovic isn’t a complete surprise, with the Brazilian driver winning F3 in his rookie season and currently leading the F2 championship in his rookie year after back-to-back campaigns.
However, Beganovic has been retained by Ferrari, joining Antonio Giovinazzi as reserve driver for the team. The Swedish-Bosnian driver will take on simulator duties throughout most race weekends and will be ready to replace a driver if the need arises. He will be on hand full-time.
While many reserve drivers remain on the sidelines, Ferrari saw Ollie Bearman step in for Carlos Sainz in Jeddah two years ago, which many point to as securing his F1 future. Beganovic will learn from the team and help in return.
If the need arises, he may one day reach his F1 dream.
