Drivers of the NTT IndyCar Series climbed behind the wheel at Mid-Ohio on Saturday for their second practice runs of the weekend.
Temperatures were a bit lower than the day before, but that was only because the session was held before noon. And even then, the difference was marginal and drivers still struggled with the heat.
When time had expired, it was Christian Lundgaard who sat atop the timesheets.
The Danish driver was inside the top five on Friday, and followed up that performance with another strong showing.
Most drivers chose to run their laps on the harder compound tire, which means their performances will not necessarily translate to qualifying later in the day.
Louis Foster was one who turned a few laps on the softer compound tire in order to give Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing a peek into how they would perform.
The difference gave him a small advantage that saw him end the day in second, though he has now used one additional set from his allocation for the weekend.
Kyle Kirkwood was quickest early in the run, and ended the day in third. David Malukas and Alexander Rossi followed closely, rounding out the top five.
The session was mostly clean, but there were two stoppages. The first was for Sting Ray Robb as he pushed a bit too hard in the keyhole hairpin, and completed a lazy spin into the gravel.

Robb was beached, and needed assistance to get back onto the track. He returned later on, following his five minute penalty, and ended the day in 15th.
Dennis Hauger spun later, touching the grass in the Turn 6 braking zone. He suffered a bit of rear wing damage, and had to be towed back to the paddock.
A conventional knockout session is coming up at the hottest part of the day, at 2:30 PM eastern time.
