Will Power earned his third consecutive IndyCar podium on Sunday while racing around the nation’s capital.

The veteran completed the most on-track passes of any driver, moving forward from 12th on the grid up to third and helping Andretti secure a 1-3-4 result for the special event.

Before the current streak of podiums, Power had only logged four top 10 results all season and seemed to be fighting against his team when it came to setup philosophies.

Those struggles have faded away recently, however, and the two sides are working better together than they have all season.

“Yeah, a lot of on-track passes,” said Power after the race. “Good strategy. Good stops. It’s just becoming normal for us to do this.

“We’re starting to eliminate all the weaknesses and be strong everywhere and have a chance to win everywhere. Team’s made huge progression over this season, and you can see it now. It’s all coming online.

“I think the expectation now every weekend is to be on the podium, challenge for a win. I think next year we’ll be wanting to be all top five in the championship type stuff.

“It will be interesting the next three races for us. I feel like we should be pretty good at Milwaukee.

“You never know in IndyCar, it’s so competitive. Slightly outside the window, you could struggle. Yeah, finishing how Ron Ruzewski told me how we need to finish, which is basically second half of the year be the points leader or be right there or be the strongest team. That’s exactly what we’re doing.”

Power has moved up from 14th to 10th in the points over the last three races, and looks to finish his first season with Andretti Global on a strong note.
