Aston Martin reveals its one-off livery for the Monaco GP

Aston Martin has unveiled a striking one-off livery for the F1 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, created in partnership with principal partner Maaden.

The special design, named From Rock to Racetrack, centres on the transformation of raw materials into advanced engineering products, drawing a link between Maaden’s mining operations and the technology found in modern Formula 1 machinery.

For Monaco, Aston Martin’s AMR26 will feature a colour-shifting finish that changes appearance as the car moves through the Principality’s streets.

The effect is created using a specialist iridescent wrap material that reacts differently depending on lighting conditions and viewing angles.

The livery takes inspiration from Aston Martin’s Andromeda Red paint finish, previously seen on the limited-run Valour and Valhalla hypercars. Shades influenced by gold, copper, aluminium and iron have been incorporated into the overall design.

Although the final result appears straightforward, creating the livery involved a significant technical and logistical effort.

A key feature of the design is the use of a hexagonal graphic pattern inspired by the Maaden logo. The shapes create a visual transition between Aston Martin Racing Green, exposed carbon fibre and the iridescent sections of the car.

The pattern also serves a practical purpose. Because traditional gradients could not be printed onto the specialist wrap, the hexagonal arrangement creates the impression of colour transitions and movement across the AMR26’s complex surfaces.

Aston Martin says more than 100 pattern variations were produced during development, while approximately 30 design concepts were explored before the final version was chosen. Maaden remained involved throughout the process, providing feedback as the design evolved.

The project also prompted the development of new digital tools. Custom software was created to refine the hexagonal pattern across different bodywork surfaces, while virtual Monaco simulations helped the team assess how the colour-shifting material would appear under real-world lighting conditions.

The finished product is among the most visually ambitious special liveries seen in Formula 1 in recent seasons. Its appearance will continue to change throughout a lap of Monaco, giving the AMR26 a constantly evolving look around one of the championship’s most famous venues.
