Daryl De Leon scored P3 after a solid drive from sixth, joining British Touring Car Championship teammate and race-winner Charles Rainford on the podium in Snetterton.
The result continues WSR’s excellent start to proceedings at the scorching Norfolk circuit, where Rainford qualified second and won the Race to Pole on Saturday.
Plenty tipped the BMW to be fast around the longest track on the calendar, with both drivers also having plenty of TOCA Turbo Boost to deploy compared to rivals.
As track temperatures reached 40°C, the BMW displayed its tyre management strengths to the fullest.
“I knew we were going to be strong towards the end,” De Leon told BTCC media.
“It was just about being patient and trying to keep the temperatures cool
“But managed to get a podium, so really happy with that, and we’ve got two more races today.”
TOCA Turbo Boost management key for Daryl De Leon in Snetterton podium
TOCA Turbo Boost has been a key talking point through the early runnings of the 2026 BTCC season.
While the innovation was brought in to level the playing field, it has received backlash for its weighting – which has been particularly highlighted at Snetterton.
Championship high-flyers Ash Sutton and Mikey Doble have both struggled through Saturday in Norfolk, both carrying significant boost disadvantages due to their P1 and P3 standing.
As a result, De Leon revealed that boost management was one of his key strategies for Race 1.
“It’s very technical with how much boost we get and how many laps in the race, so it’s always good to try and save some towards the end.
“Just if you’re struggling a little bit on degradation, you can use the boost to get out of a sticky situation, so yeah, all calculated.”
