Alex Palou is the newest five-time champion of the NTT IndyCar Series.

The speedy Spaniard clinched the title by earning two top 10 finishes in Milwaukee’s double-header weekend, and celebrated his accomplishment by doing donuts on the front straight.

Palou came into the double-header weekend in Milwaukee with a 91-point advantage, but his current lead of 100 points is insurmountable with only one race remaining.

Not only is this Palou’s fifth championship, he is only the second driver to earn four in a row after Sebastien Bourdais did so from 2004-2007.

Only two other drivers have won more titles: Scott Dixon with six and the legend A.J. Foyt with seven.

At 29 years old, Palou is still in his prime. He came to IndyCar in 2020, and immediately showed his skill by earning a podium in his third ever race.

For his sophomore season, he joined Chip Ganassi Racing and won his first race of that partnership. And he has never looked back.

With 25 career wins, including an Indianapolis 500 triumph last year, 20 poles, and average finishing positions that put other drivers to shame, nobody can keep up with Palou.

He has now earned five championships across a six year span, and after only seven years in the series.
