Chip Ganassi Racing has announced a new sponsor for the team’s #8 entry for the 2026 IndyCar season.

The car will carry the bold colors of Sunoco for every race starting next year, the first of a multi-year agreement with the American fuel distributor.

Kyffin Simpson will pilot the car as he enters his third year in the series, and he will stand out on track thanks to the fresh design.

Bright yellow and deep blue cover the car, with large Sunoco lettering filling the sidepods and wings.

“Sunoco has long been synonymous with performance and innovation, values that mirror the DNA of our team,” said CGR owner Chip Ganassi.

“To join forces with such an iconic brand and one with a storied legacy in IndyCar is truly special. This partnership reflects our shared drive to keep pushing boundaries, and we look forward to what we’ll accomplish together on and off the track.”

The partnership is Sunoco’s first primary sponsorship in IndyCar since 1973, and brings back a name that was seen often when the company was the official fuel supplier of the series from 2010-2018.

Sunoco first sponsored a car in American open wheel racing back in 1968, with Mark Donohue driving the Sunoco Eagle.

Donohue won the 1972 Indianapolis 500 in the iconic blue livery that featured the same yellow wings that will be seen on the modern design.

The car sponsorship will be present alongside Shell branding, with the competing company providing fuels for the NTT IndyCar Series since 2023.

Simpson will race alongside veterans Scott Dixon and Alex Palou next season, with the champions expected to keep their PNC Bank and DHL sponsorship in place from recent seasons.
