Arrow McLaren announced on Tuesday that it has extended its partnership with Chevrolet as its engine supplier as it competes in the NTT IndyCar Series.

The extension is a multi-year agreement, and will see the team continue to be powered by Chevy engines well into the future.

McLaren Racing gradually entered American open wheel motorsports by partnering with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports in 2020.

Since then, the organization has taken full control of the program, and has been utilizing Chevy engines throughout.

A steady partnership between the two entities will be mutually beneficial as the new IR-28 chassis and engine package is tested and slated for introduction during the 2028 IndyCar season.

“Arrow McLaren has been an important part of Chevrolet’s IndyCar program, and this extension reflects the strength of the technical relationship we’ve built together,” said Eric Warren, Vice President of Global Motorsports Competition at General Motors.

“As the series moves toward the next generation of car and powertrain development, close collaboration between our engineers will be critical.

“We continue to share a clear objective with Arrow McLaren: to keep raising the performance of the Chevrolet package and compete for wins, championships and the Indianapolis 500.”

Together, Arrow McLaren and Chevy have secured 14 wins, 54 podiums, and 13 poles.

The press release specifically calls out the Indianapolis 500 as a goal for both companies.

Arrow McLaren has earned three Indy 500 podiums with Pato O’Ward behind the wheel, but has yet to secure a win in the biggest race of the year. This despite the team adding an additional car to its line-up beyond its full season entries in each of the past seven years.

O’Ward will be joined by Scott Dixon and Felix Rosenqvist next season, each of whom have an Indy 500 win to their name.
