Lewis Hamilton has met with the UK Prime Minister to discuss education reform as part of his ongoing work through Mission 44, the charity he founded to support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
After a sixth-placed finish at the 2025 Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, Hamilton met with Sir Keir Starmer and Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson at 10 Downing Street for a roundtable on how the government plans to support schools and students.
In 2021, the British driver launched his own charity, Mission 44, to help improve diversity in F1 and across the wider Motorsports.
Part of the initiative is to help drive change and allow children better access to explore careers in STEM subjects at school.
Reflecting on his own educational challenges, Hamilton highlighted the need to create opportunities for young people from all backgrounds to succeed.
“Today, myself, mission44, our partners, and some incredible students met with the UK Prime Minister for an important discussion on how we can make sure all young people are supported to succeed in school, regardless of their background,” he said via his Instagram account.
“I struggled in school and never felt like my voice was heard, that’s why I know first-hand that ensuring every student feels they belong in school is vital.
“I’m grateful that off the back of this meeting, the government has committed to working with Mission 44 to enact change focused on making the education system more inclusive.
“I’m so proud of how far Mission 44 has come in such a short space of time and the opportunity we have to transform the lives of vulnerable students across the country.”
During the F1 Miami GP, it was revealed that Hamilton’s Mission 44 is partnering with Ferrari title sponsors HP.
The partnership aims to provide young people in the UK and Miami with access to technology, training, digital skills, and mentorship.
As part of the collaboration, there will be a multi-year commitment to support two Miami-based organisations that create career pathways and provide workforce development opportunities.
