Williams Formula 1 drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant have paid tribute to Jost Capito, following his departure as its Team Principal.
Capito spent two years at the helm of Williams’ Formula 1 operations but on Monday the organisation announced his departure.
Technical Director FX Demaison, who joined shortly after Capito in 2021, is also leaving the team.
Albon and Sargeant both joined Williams during Capito’s tenure as Team Principal.
Albon secured a 2022 drive with Williams after a year away from the grid and this season sealed a multi-year contract extension.
Sargeant was signed to Williams’ restructured Driver Academy in late 2021 and was promoted to a race seat for 2023 in place of the axed Nicholas Latifi.
“We only had one year working together but in that time you were not just a Team Principal but also a great friend,” wrote Albon on social media.
“Thank you Jost for your faith in me this year and all the support that that came with. Wishing you the very best in the future.”
Sargeant wrote: “Jost, thank you for having the trust and belief in me throughout my time in the academy and helping me on my path to F1. He gave me an opportunity to show my potential and race in Formula 2.
“He has been a great team leader, and I wish him the best in whatever the future may hold!”
Williams will announce replacements for Capito and Demaison in due course.
Capito and Demaison to Ferrari?
Possibly Sauber? Seidl is CEO but they still need a Team Principal.
