Lirim Zendeli will return to FIA Formula 2 action at the upcoming event in Belgium, in place of suspended Alpine junior Olli Caldwell.
Caldwell reached 12 penalty points following the most recent round in Hungary, triggering an automatic one-round ban, which will be served in Belgium.
Zendeli, 22, raced for MP Motorsport in six rounds of last year’s Formula 2 championship but withdrew early from the campaign due to a lack of budget.
He previously competed in Formula 3 with Charouz and Trident, winning the Feature Race in Belgium in 2020.
“I’m very excited and happy to be racing a Formula 2 car again,” said Zendeli.
“It’s been a year now since my last time in Formula 2 and I’m looking forward to this experience.
“Taking over the keys from Olli will be a big challenge but I will try my best to find the limits again as soon as possible.”
Caldwell is slated to return to action at the following event in the Netherlands.
