Officials at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya have revealed the new-look Turn 10 that will be used by Formula 1 and MotoGP this year.
Formula 1 has visited the venue annually since 1991 though minor modifications have been made to the layout through its 30-year history.
Ahead of the 2004 event the long-radius Turn 10 was bypassed by a tighter left-hander, leading to a heavier braking zone, which has been used ever since.
MotoGP adopted the Formula 1 layout for 2016 and the old Turn 10 has since been left redundant.
In December officials at the venue outlined plans to reprofile the complex, effectively reviving the old Turn 10 layout, but doing so closer to the back straight, in order to maximise the available run-off.
Work has been carried out through January and on Saturday officials revealed the look of the revised corner.
This year’s Spanish Grand Prix is scheduled to take place as the fourth round of the season on May 9.
Its previous contract expired after the 2020 round but a one-year agreement was ratified by Formula 1 and organisers of the event.
MotoGP’s Catalan Grand Prix is listed as the seventh round of the season on June 6.
The final chicane, in use since 2007, will still be used by Formula 1, though MotoGP reverted to the faster alternative at the penultimate corner after work was undertaken to modify the run-off in 2018.
