Williams will be without Acting Team Principal Simon Roberts at this weekend’s Turkish Grand Prix after he returned a positive Covid-19 test.
Roberts stepped up the role on a short-term basis in September in the wake of the departure of the Williams family from Formula 1.
The team had already been forced into personnel changes for the upcoming round in Turkey after some travelling personnel tested positive across the most recent pair of events in Portugal and Italy.
It will now be without Roberts in Turkey after he returned a positive test on Wednesday.
He had previously tested negative on Monday, as part of the usual testing programme, but undertook another test on Wednesday after displaying minor symptoms.
Williams stressed that Roberts “has not been in close contact with any other members of the race team” and is “feeling otherwise well.”
Williams will continue to operate trackside as planned and Roberts will support the team on a remote basis.
He is now isolating in the United Kingdom for a further 10 days as per the government guidelines.
Team Manager Dave Redding and Chief Engineer of Vehicle Design Adam Carter will share some of Roberts’ responsibilities on the ground in Turkey.
Roberts is the first Formula 1 team boss to return a positive Covid-19 test.
