Maximilian Guenther topped the timesheets in FP3 for the final leg of the season-closing Berlin E-Prix, leading the way for BMW i Andretti Motorsport.
The young German racer shot to the fore in the final stages of the 45-minute session, completing a 250kW qualifying simulation to clock a 1:15.091s lap – the fastest tour of the new layout of the Tempelhof Circuit thus far.
This effort was 0.242s ahead of the rest of the field, with Antonio Felix da Costa coming the closest to equalling the 23-year-old despite suffering from rear-tyre locking issues in his DS Techeetah.
His team-mate in Jean-Eric Vergne took a low-key 21st in practice as one of two drivers who spun in the session – the other being Season 3 champion Lucas di Grassi who lost control of his Audi in Turn 1 to take 14th overall.
Oliver Rowland, who took his maiden Formula E win in the 10th race of the season, fronted a 3-4 result for Nissan e.dams, with the British racer 0.350s off the pace but still 0.054s ahead of team-mate Sebastien Buemi.
Jaguar’s Mitch Evans completed the top five, half a second down on Guenther while Nyck de Vries registered the sixth fastest time for Mercedes EQ.
By taking seventh, Alexander Sims completed a double top 10 performance for BMW.
He was a narrow 0.027s ahead of Porsche’s Andre Lotterer who was, in turn, followed by Alex Lynn and Felipe Massa who completed the top 10 for Mahindra and Venturi.
