'Nico Rosberg has never been credible, even as a driver' – Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen has hit back at 2016 Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg, who he claims has never been a "credible driver".

The Dutchman's response comes hot on the heels of Rosberg's criticism of the Red Bull driver in his post-race debrief video, which he uploads to his own YouTube channel after each race weekend.

Rosberg claims Verstappen had reverted "to his old self" in Belgium, after he crashed out on the opening lap after he and Alfa Romeo's Kimi Raikkonen made contact, which Rosberg said was "very aggressive".

Asked for his opinion on the German's criticism, Verstappen hit back: "I don't really care what he says in his podcast," he replied.

"I think he's becoming the new Jacques Villeneuve - who has actually become less bad now. Nico is the new one. I guess he just want to attract viewers/listeners.

"He called me a narcist earlier this year, I found that a bit extreme."

Verstappen went on to question Rosberg's talents as a driver and pundit, adding: "Nico has never been credible, even as a driver. It's his problem. He has no appeal and can't get a job.

“I don't know what he wants, more viewers? Money? He should have kept driving to earn a lot more!”
