Jamie Chadwick nominated for Sportswoman of the Year

W Series points leader Jamie Chadwick has been nominated for Sportswoman of the Year.

Chadwick is currently competing in the all-female W Series, which debuted this season as a way to showcase female motorsport talent in a male-dominated sport.

The 21-year-old, who recently joined Williams F1 as a development driver, was the first women to win the MRF Challenge Championship and also the first to win a race in the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship.

Sportswoman of the Year is an initiative run by the Women's Sports Foundation and the accolade has previously been bestowed upon Tennis great Serena Williams and Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, with the most recent winner Paralympic rower and cross-country skier Oksana Masters.

Chadwick, who could win the W Series crown and the $500,000 prize fund next time out at Brands Hatch – the season finale – was delighted to hear of her nomination, writing on social media: "Wow! Never thought I’d be a Sports Woman Of The Year finalist. Proud to be in the company of some incredible talent."

Award winners will be announced on October 16, with voting now open. Click here to vote.
