Pietro Fittipaldi to make DTM test appearance with Team WRT
Team WRT has revealed that Pietro Fittipaldi will be taking part in next week's DTM tests at the Lausitzring.
The grandson of two-time Formula One World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi will be sharing driver duties with Jonathan Aberdein; the South African was confirmed last week Team WRT's first driver for the 2019 DTM campaign.
Fittipaldi, who came up through the ranks of European and American single seater competition, spent much of 2018 on the sidelines as a result of a crash during qualifying at the FIA WEC Six Hours of Spa Francorchamps, which left him with fractures in both feet.
Since then, the 22-year-old has been making appearances in Super Formula, IndyCar and most notably Formula 1. Fittipaldi was confirmed as the test driver for Haas late last year and has since made testing appearances for the team in Abu Dhabi, Barcelona and Bahrain.
Fittipaldi will take the wheel with Team WRT on the final three days of the four-day test at the Lausitzring.
The second seat at the Belgian privateer outfit is the only seat yet to be confirmed for the 2019 season, as all other Audi, BMW and Aston Martin teams have already confirmed their full driver line-up.
It is unclear if Fittipaldi's testing involvement will translate into a full-season campaign in WRT's second Audi RS5 DTM.
