Haas opts against appealing stewards' Force India call

Haas has confirmed that it will not appeal the stewards’ decision regarding its protest of Force India, which was carried out through the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend.

Haas lodged a protest last Thursday against the Silverstone-based operation, claiming that it had not designed its own car, on account of its mid-season takeover.

Stewards sided with Force India and Haas notified its intention to appeal, giving it 96 hours in which to make a decision.

On Tuesday the team confirmed that it will not be appealing that decision.

However, of greater interest is the team’s next step regarding the answer it ostensibly wanted and received, namely that Racing Point Force India is regarded as a different entity to Sahara Force India.

Haas has argued that Racing Point Force India should be held to the same entry regulations that it abided by when it joined Formula 1 in 2016.

Formula 1 teams are not permitted certain prize money allocation until they place inside the top 10 for two out of three years.
