Kobayashi leads in Bahrain, two hours to go

Kamui Kobayashi leads for Toyota Gazoo Racing in the Six Hours of Bahrain with two hours of the race left to run.

Kobayashi has taken the #7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid over from Jose Maria Lopez, leading the #36 Alpine A480-Gibson of Matthieu Vaxiviere.

Vaxiviere is ahead of Brendon Hartley, who took the #8 Toyota over from Sebastien Buemi but lost ground with a slow pitstop.

Charles Milesi leads LMP2 for Team WRT, with United Autosports’ Fabio Scherer in second place. The two JOTA cars hold third and fourth, with Stoffel Vandoorne leading Anthony Davidson as the latter struggles with overheating rear brakes.

The race was notably briefly halted with a full course caution due to an incident for the #21 DragonSpeed ORECA. The car lost a left rear wheel with Juan Pablo Montoya behind the wheel, which was left out on the track.

Porsche still leads GTE Pro in one-two formation, with Neel Jani’s #92 Porsche 911 RSR-19 ahead of the #91 Porsche driven by Richard Lietz.

The two 911s are out ahead of the two AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE Evos, with Alessandro Pier Guidi’s #51 ahead of the #52 driven by Miguel Molina.

In GTE Am, Dylan Pereira leads the way in the #33 TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage AMR. Pereira took the lead off the race shortly before the hour mark, surpassing teh #98 Aston Martin Vantage AMR of Paul Dalla Lana on track.

Dalla Lana has since handed over to Marcos Gomes, who remains in second place ahead of the #56 Team Project 1 Porsche 911 RSR-19 of Matteo Cairoli.
