Sliders: Compare the McLaren MCL34 and MCL35
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

McLaren is the latest team to launch its new car for the 2020 Formula 1 season – the MCL35 – which it hopes will close the gap to the front-running trio, or at least allow it to claim ‘best of the rest’ honours once again.

Front

The front shows McLaren have changed the design philosophy of the front-wing, instead looking for an outwash effect to move air around the front-tyre, rather than over it. The nose is thinner and the bargeboard area far more advanced.

Side

The side profile appears to show the rear-wing sitting higher and this is because the car is running higher rear rake in the launch studio shots. The rear of the MCL34 sits lower to the ground.

The most striking change is of course the switch to a matte livery over gloss and the painted halo, which is now Papaya orange.
