Lewis Hamilton will start the Sao Paulo Grand Prix on the back of the grid after being forced to change the power unit on his Ferrari.
The Briton was already condemned to a 10-place grid penalty at Interlagos after his fifth internal combustion engine change of the season, and took to the track in FP3 with the new component bolted in.
But during the session, Hamilton complained of engine issues as well as smoke in his cockpit, and duly boxed the SF-26 as a result.
After investigation from the Scuderia, it has been decided that the power unit must be completely changed, and therefore will be left to work his way through the pack tomorrow.
Ferrari has confirmed that Hamilton will be taking part in qualifying, but the participation will merely act as an extended test session.
Teammate Charles Leclerc, with whom he continues to be at variance after their controversial clash in Mexico City last week, will also take a 10-place penalty after also changing his ICE component.
