Their awkward non-exchange in Monaco drew many opinions, but Formula 1 commentating legend Martin Brundle finally scored his interview with Kim Kardashian.
The reality TV star and businesswoman has been a sporadic presence within the sport since befriending seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton.
With the pair now widely regarded as a couple, Kardashian’s first appearance in an F1 paddock was at the Monaco Grand Prix back in June.
Being in the paddock drew a great deal of attention from the usual on-track action, and courted some criticism after a video showed her appearing to take a towel belonging to race-winner, Andrea Kimi Antonell, on her way back from the podium ceremony.
On top of that, she received more widespread condemnation for ignoring Brundle on the grid prior to the race in the Principality, the Sky Sports commentator and ex-F1 racer being famed for his hilarious and sometimes awkward encounters with celebrities during his highly-popular ‘grid walk’ segement.
But, ahead of Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix, Brundle, in typical style, brazenly approached Kardashian once again and this time, he succeeded.
“Hello, Kim. How are you?” the former Tyrrell, Ligier, Benetton and Jordan driver said.
“Did I not know the rules? Did we get off on the wrong foot?” Kardashian replied, smiling.
Disarmed, Brundle countered: “No, it’s absolutely fine,” before asking her for her opinons on “the exciting world of Formula 1”.
Describing it as “amazing, and fun and wild,” Kardashian, when asked to give her thoughts on ‘her man’ Hamilton’s chances, the 45-year-old stated she was “just praying for the best tonight.”
And with that, their friendly but brief exchange was over.
Unfortunately for Hamilton, Kardashian’s prayers were not enough, as a strategic call he made backfired, and finished the race in sixth, after starting third.
After the race, the Ferrari driver was taken to the medical centre after complaining of feeling unwell upon exiting the car in parc ferme.
