The FIA has confirmed the start time for the race at the Sepang International Circuit; host of the 2026 Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix.
After months of deliberation, the sport finally decided to return back to Malaysia, for a race weekend, under F1’s latest regulations cycle.
The Middle Eastern conflict had led to the cancellations of the Saudi Arabian and Bahrain events, scheduled for in April.
And with the tensions only escalating, it had become clear that those races could not be reinstated, at least in 2026.
But after the Bahraini and Malaysian authorities, in tandem with the FOM and FIA, came to a consensus, the Bahrain GP will go ahead in 2026, albeit being hosted at the iconic Sepang International Circuit.
The Malaysian GP had been a stalwart of the F1 calendar, running through 19 consecutive seasons between 1999 and 2017, and had quickly become a fan favorite.
Through the years, the track has served some intense racing action and a few dramatic championship segues (read Lewis Hamilton’s 2016 DNF).
As it turns out, the circuit is set to host the Bahrain GP exactly 10 years on from that fateful afternoon for the seven-time World Champion.
The weekend is scheduled to be run from 02-04 October, and the FIA has now confirmed the race start time.
The Grand Prix on Sunday will start at 3PM local time. This would translate to an 8AM start time for viewers logging in from the UK and Ireland, and a 9AM start time slot for viewers in Central Europe.
