Lewis Hamilton has admitted he has faced an extended period of adapting to life at Ferrari, as he continues to enjoy the SF-26’s competitiveness.
Hamilton made his blockbuster move to the Scuderia in 2025, heralded as a new era for Formula 1, as two of the biggest names joined forces.
Instead, the first year of the alliance proved disastrous, with Hamilton struggling in a car that fundamentally went against his driving style.
Issues varied from communication issues with his race engineer Riccardo Adami, to battling inherent aerodynamic philosophy issues with the cumbersome SF-25.
This had an effect on the Briton, who looked dejected and scrambling for answers for Q1 eliminations later in the year.
2026 however, is becoming dramatically different; the SF-26 is not just more suited to his style, but the seven-time world champion has revealed he is now much happier overall, Hamilton revealing the true cause of his 2025 issues.
“I am in a really happy place,” Hamilton said to media, including Motorsport Week.
“With the team, it has taken a long time to adjust, on both sides, and it was a difficult season last year with the car that we weren’t developing.

Hamilton then revealed the scale of the internal changes at Ferrari over the winter, including the sidelining of Adami, has led to a dramatic change in his mindset.
“But we’ve made so many changes internally, both within the team and how we operate back at the factory, and it is like the best it’s ever been in terms of how we work together.
“Perhaps there are a couple of sponsor commitments too many, but otherwise, it is really good.”
Little doubt exists that Hamilton is in a far better place than last year’s disastrous campaign, the changes made internally playing a major part in the turnaround.
