Nicolo Bulega survived a minor scare at the start of the race to dominate the WorldSBK Superpole race at Most.
The Italian wrapped up his 18th consecutive win, adding to the new record he set at last round’s Balaton Park as he continued to dominate.
It was a chaotic Turn 1 as Sam Lowes crashed out, Bimota’s Axel Bassani and pole man Bulega dropped to third place.
Xavi Vierge and Somkiat Chantra crashed out of proceedings at different parts of the track on the factory Yamaha and Honda, respectively.
Bulega regained second spot by the end of Lap 1 to sit on the back of his team-mate, before forcing his way through with a block pass into Turn 1 on Lap 2.
Despite taking the lead, Lecuona was eyeing the best possible place to overtake, as the Italian remained within 0.3 seconds until Lap 6.
The second half of the race saw Bulega extend his race-winning advantage to two seconds, prevailing to put himself in the best position for Sunday afternoon’s Race 2.
Lecuona remained second best to wrap up yet another factory Ducati 102, with the Spaniard still searching for his first win in WorldSBK.
Yari Montella claimed another podium for Barni Spark Racing, having fended off GoEleven’s Lorenzo Baldassarri.
Rookie Alberto Surra sealed fifth place after an impressive overtaking of Kawasaki’s Garrett Gerloff on the final lap.
British Superbike champions Tarran Mackenzie sealed seventh and eighth on their respective Ducati Panigale’s, finishing seventh and eighth, respectively.
Alex Lowes and Michael van der Mark finished ninth and 10th, representing the Bimota and BMW.
Yamaha’s Andrea Locatelli sealed 11th spot, followed by Remy Gardner, Bimota’s Axel Bassani and Stefano Manzi.
Six seconds behind Manzi was Mattia Rato, who claimed 15th spot following a half-race distance race.
