Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi responded to Ducati’s early pace to end MotoGP Practice on top at Aragon.
Marc Marquez had led the majority of the session, only briefly being replaced by Marco Bezzecchi with 10 minutes remaining before returning to the top spot.
However, Bezzecchi had the momentum in the final minutes of the session to end the day fastest, clocking an unbeatable time of 1:45.455s.
Alex Marquez on the Gresini Ducati proved to be the closest challenger, with his final lap 0.010s off Bezzecchi’s fastest time, while Marc Marquez was 0.038s off in third.
Fabio Di Giannantonio responded to an early morning crash to take fourth, with Fermin Aldeguer completing the top five.
Raul Fernandez was just over half a second off Bezzecchi’s best time in sixth, as championship leader Jorge Martin finished the day in seventh.
Pedro Acosta was eighth and Franco Morbidelli ninth, as Johann Zarco rounded out the top 10 on his injury return to book a direct Q2 spot.
Diogo Moreira narrowly missed out in 11th after finishing just behind his team-mate, while Luca Marini was 12th.
Francesco Bagnaia concluded a disappointing day in 13th, as Fabio Quartararo took 14th and Joan Mir 15th.
Alex Rins ended his day’s running in 16th ahead of Enea Bastianini in 17th, with factory KTM rider Brad Binder 18th.
Jack Miller narrowly beat stand-in rider Pol Espargaro to 19th, while Pramac team-mate Toprak Razatlioglu was 21st.
Lorenzo Savadori completed the standings in 22nd.
