Lance Stroll is aware of the challenges Aston Martin faces

Lance Stroll has shared a positive outlook for Aston Martin‘s future amid the current harsh reality of its Formula 1 woes, admitting that sometimes “you get in the car and it’s s***.”

The Canadian is once again partnered with veteran Fernando Alonso with the Silverstone-based squad, headed-up by father Lawrence, for 2026.

After initial excitement at the prospect of an Adrian Newey-designed car at their disposal, the team has been dealt a harsh blow via reliability issues through its Honda power unit.

Vibrations within the AMR26 have left the Japanese marque’s V6 hybrid to vibrate significantly, causing damage to the battery and to both Stroll and Alonso.

Team Principal Newey made the shocking revelation that the extremity of the vibrations is causing numbness for both drivers’ hands, risking “permanent nerve damage”.

The ongoing slog both in the UK and in Japan has appeared to give the power unit and the car some significant improvement, but it is currently unknown if enough strides have been made to allow both cars to properly compete at this weekend’s season-opener at Albert Park.

When asked ahead of this weekend’s event how the car feels to drive, Stroll told media including Motorsport Week: “A lot of vibration,”

“In Bahrain, it was limiting us, not just from the physical driver side, but also the whole car just falling apart with that level of vibration.

“It’s not good for the engine. It’s not good for anything in the car, human included.

“So yeah, there was some work done the last couple of weeks since Bahrain to try and fix it. And if that’s better, then we should be in a better position this weekend. If not, it’s going to be difficult to complete laps.”

Lance Stroll signals ‘full attack’ for Aston Martin as it endeavours to overturn ‘tough times’

As unprecedented as the current situation is for Aston Martin, F1 is, due to the new regulations, in itself in unprecedented times, and there appears to be a significant and strong sense of willingness and single-mindedness from Aston to strive to overcome the current setback.

Stroll indicated that he accepts the reality of the predicament it’s currently in, and sent a strong message that there is no time for the team to feel sorry for itself, and will work hard to leap over this sturdy hurdle.

“I mean, it’s life, you know,” he said. “This is Formula 1, you’re a driver, and some seasons you get in the car and it’s magic, and some seasons you get in the car and it’s shit.

“Go with it and work with what you have.

“You know, right now, times are tough, but like I said, I believe the future is very bright. So myself included, the whole team, I think we’re all just accept where we are now, and it’s just full attack.”
