Aston Martin has confirmed that it will run a shortened programme for the first Formula 1 pre-season test, and will miss Tuesday and Wednesday’s running.

The Silverstone-based squad had been reportedly set to announce a delay in its schedule, following on from McLaren, which has opted to miss Day 1, and Williams, which is not going to run whatsoever.

Its choice to skip Monday’s first day and the next two has now been confirmed, with the team issuing a short statement on its social media.

“The AMR26 will be in Barcelona later this week for its shakedown,” it read.

The AMR26 is perhaps the most talked-about car the team has ever produced, having been designed by Adrian Newey, who joined the team officially last March.

Newey is also taking over as Team Principal, in a backroom reshuffle, the first time the famed technical guru has officially led a team in this capacity.

Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will continue to be its drivers.

Aston is also arriving in 2026 with a new engine partnership with F1 returnees Honda, which officially launched its power unit alliance last week at a launch in Tokyo, unveiling the V6 hybrid engine.
