Aston Martin has revealed the launch date for its highly anticipated Adrian Newey-designed Formula 1 car as it seeks to move up the sport’s competitive order in 2026.
Aston Martin will reveal its challenger to the waiting world on February 9, becoming the first team to confirm its launch date for its car for F1’s new technical regulations.
In a curious move, the launch will take place after the Barcelona test scheduled for January 26-30, which will take place behind closed doors without media or spectators.
2026 marks a major test for Aston Martin, as it looks to bounce back following a severe dip in form, with Fernando Alonso’s last podium coming back in Sao Paulo in 2023.
Having designed the 2026 car, Newey will make the jump from Managing Technical Partner to Team Principal, providing further hope of change for the beleaguered team.
Out-developed by rivals in the second half of the season, flashes of brilliance have failed to translate into results, with Alonso’s seventh place in Qatar his latest points finish.
This weekend’s finale in Abu Dhabi looks set to confirm Aston Martin’s seventh-place finish in the standings, needing 13 points to overtake Racing Bulls in sixth.
