Jaguar TCS Racing has confirmed that Antonio Felix da Costa has joined Mitch Evans at the team for Season 12 of the Formula E World Championship.

The Portuguese, who won Season 6 in 2020, officially left Porsche last month after months of speculation as to his whereabouts in the all-electric championship.

Rumours had pointed da Costa towards the Kidlington-based squad for some time, with Nick Cassidy having departed for the new Citroen team.

The 34-year-old will be paired with long-time Jaguar driver and good friend Mitch Evans.

In a statement, da Costa said: “Joining Jaguar TCS Racing, a team with a rich legacy in motorsport, is an incredible honour.

“The team’s resilience and pursuit of performance and innovation is something I’ve always admired, and I’m looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the impressive Jaguar I-TYPE 7.

“Partnering with Mitch, one of the most experienced drivers in Formula E and a close friend, is a privilege.

“I’m excited for this next chapter – to learn, push boundaries, and play my part in driving the team forward for Season 12 and beyond.”

For Evans, it will be a year of the unknown, adapting to a new team-mate and a new Team Principal in Ian James, but said it conveys a vision for further success.

“Welcoming António to the team feels like the beginning of an exciting new era with fresh energy and a shared ambition for the future.

“We’ve built a special team at Jaguar TCS Racing over the last few years, and with Antonio here I’m now looking forward to pushing each other, learning from one another, and together taking the team to even greater heights.”

Da Costa ‘aligns with Jaguar values’ – James

James, who took over as boss last month from James Barclay, gave da Costa his full backing, saying his values as a racer matches the team’s.

“We’re delighted to welcome António to Jaguar TCS Racing. His performance over the last 11 years in this championship has been consistently impressive, and his approach to racing aligns perfectly with our values as a team,” he said.

“As we enter the final season of the GEN3 Evo era, we’re confident that we will see great results with António and Mitch, as they form arguably the most competitive and exciting driver pairing on the grid.”
