Andretti Global announced on Wednesday that it has hired Ron Ruzewski as team principal over its IndyCar and IndyNXT programs.
Ruzewski is a veteran of the IndyCar paddock, and spent 20 years working at Team Penske before he was let go as part of the team’s reorganization this May.
To make way for Ruzewski’s signing, long-time Andretti team principal Rob Edwards will shift to a different role within the organization.
He will take on the role of chief performance officer of TWG Motorsports, parent company of Andretti Global.
A statement posted by the team read, “TWG Motorsports, a division of TWG Global, today announced that Ron Ruzewski will join Andretti Global as Team Principal over the Indianapolis-based IndyCar and IndyNXT teams starting in January 2026.
This comes as long-time Andretti Global Team Principal Rob Edwards transitions to the role of Chief Performance Officer for TWG Motorsports.”
Ruzewski was one of three members of Team Penske’s leadership let go this past May over the team’s disqualification from qualifying for the Indianapolis 500.
Two of the team’s three cars were found to have run an illegal attenuator in an apparent attempt to smooth out a seam where the piece connects to the rest of the chassis.
Team President Tim Cindric and General Manager Kyle Moyer were also released at the same time, providing a sizeable shake-up within the historic team.
Ruzewski’s signing at Andretti follows news that veteran driver Will Power will be shifting over to Andretti next season following 17 years with Penske.
The relationship between Power and Ruzewski should bring some familiarity to both parties as they join a new organization together.
The new team principal title takes effect at the start of the calendar year, giving Ruzewski just two months to get up to speed before the first race of the 2026 season on March 1.
