Krack ‘couldn’t agree more’ with Alonso Aston Martin F1 criticism

Krack, like Alonso, believes its time for Aston Martint o deliver stronger performances

Aston Martin Formula 1 Team Principal Mike Krack “couldn’t agree more” with Fernando Alonso, who has called on the team to do the talking on the F1 track.

The Silverstone-based Aston Martin formula 1 squad has struggled of late after failing to improve its results via a series of upgrades.

Alonso has been largely positive amid Aston’s struggles but after a pointless result at his home Grand Prix in Barcelona, he said “It’s time to work harder, to talk less, to deliver more.”

Krack was asked to respond to Alonso’s critique ahead of last weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix and he wholeheartedly agreed with the Spaniard’s take.

“Obviously, when you develop your car over the year and also since the time he’s here, you have a close working relationship with the driver,” Krack said.

“I think that applies to all the senior figures. And when you bring upgrades to the car, you tell the drivers also what you expect from them.

“If you then do not deliver the performance that you promised, then obviously they are not happy. And this is, I think, what Fernando has referred to. I cannot agree more with him.

“It’s time to deliver and not to talk.”

Sadly for Aston Martin and Alonso, they were not able to deliver in Austria last weekend.

Neither Alonso nor Stroll were able to pick up points in either the Sprint or GP at the Red Bull Ring, plagued by lowly qualifying performances.

Alonso wants Aston Martin to ‘talk less’ and ‘deliver more’

Stroll started the higher of the two for the Sprint in 12th, while Alonso started ahead of the Canadian in the GP, 15th.

This was a far cry from Alonso’s qualifying performances earlier in the season where Aston’s pace granted him multiple Q3 appearances.

Instead, the Silverstone-based squad has failed to score in the last two rounds, leaving them a stranded fifth in the Constructors’ standings with 58 points, 28 ahead of sixth-placed RB and 138 behind fourth-placed Mercedes.

“We need to get better for the next race,” Alonso said.

“About the details, I think it’s a very clear answer. So let’s try to get better for Silverstone.”

With Aston Martin’s headquarters based right next to the home of the British Grand Prix, Alonso implied just how important it is to the team to perform well this weekend.

Despite the team’s poor run of form, the Spaniard is hopeful of a better result at Silverstone.

“Silverstone is our home grand prix,” he said. “It cannot be any other home grand prix than Silverstone for Aston Martin.

“So we really need to perform better there.

“I’m reasonably optimistic that we can turn things around.”
