Ferrari has announced that shades of blue will be incorporated into the liveries of its two 2024 Formula 1 cars throughout the upcoming Miami Grand Prix weekend.

The Italian outfit will run the tweaked design to celebrate the 70th anniversary of its presence in the United States when it ran a white and blue scheme in two races.

Although Ferrari is not supplanting its iconic Rosso Corsa red for that combination as it did in 1964, the marque is reviving select blues that hark back to its heritage.

Ferrari will first adopt a lighter shade of blue known as Azzurro La Plata, which is the national racing colour of Argentina and forms a tribute to the late Alberto Ascari.

The Italian drove for Ferrari between 1950 and 1953, winning two Drivers’ Championships in that time, as he dressed in blue overalls with a matching helmet to boot.

Meanwhile, the tone was carried over into the racing suits that John Surtees, Lorenzo Bandini, Ludovico Scarfiotti, Chris Amon and Niki Lauda wore whilst with Ferrari.

The Miami GP will also see Ferrari incorporate a deeper blue shade titled Azzurro Dino, which was last represented in 1974 before the team then evolved to red attire.

Ferrari will celebrate the occasion during both the build-up to the weekend and the round at the Miami International Autodrome, the first of three races in the States.

The altered colour scheme will be revealed in Florida, although a date has not been set. A pair of blue 296 GT6s will front a parade of Ferrari cars at the Miami circuit.
