Leclerc gave up second place to the Red Bull driver on the final lap in the hope it would secure second place in the Constructors’ for Ferrari.

Russell, however, finished within five seconds of Perez to be promoted to third place to preserve Mercedes’ claims to the runner-up spot. The penalty dropped Perez to fourth.

Norris completed the top five ahead of Oscar Piastri ahead of Fernando Alonso, Yuki Tsunoda, Lewis Hamilton and Lance Stroll.

Carlos Sainz classifies 18th after Ferrari’s hopes of a late safety car failed to come to fruition. The Spaniard pulled into the pits on the final lap after being sent on two long stints on the Hard compound tyre.
