Disney+ has announced that its Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story docuseries is set for a November 15 release date.

Featuring interviews with Ross Brawn, drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, Technical Director Nick Fry and Red Bull’s Christian Horner, the four-part series promises behind-the-scenes access to previously unseen footage from the F1 archives.

Presented by Keanu Reeves, who also serves as executive producer, the series recounts Ross Brawn’s rescue of the former Honda works F1 team.

As the financial crisis continued to weaken businesses, Honda announced in December 2008 that it was to pull out of the sport due to economic concerns.

With the future of both the team and its hundreds of staff uncertain, Brawn completed a 100% buyout of the F1 team for a symbolic £1, renaming the outfit Brawn GP in March 2009, weeks away from the start of the season.

Having secured an engine deal with Mercedes for 2009, what had been already developed for Honda’s RA109 proved to be almost indomitable in the early stages of the season.

Although a predominantly sponsorless blank canvas, the BGP001 featured an innovative double diffuser design. The car shocked the paddock when it took to the track in winter testing, shooting to the top of the timing boards.

Button and Barrichello locked out the front row for the first round in Melbourne, going on to finish 1-2 in the team’s maiden race.

The Briton continued his strong start to the season, winning six of the opening seven rounds, securing an unlikely championship success in Brazil.

Brawn GP also laid claim to the Constructors’ title in what would be the team’s only season in F1.

Mercedes bought the outfit in 2009, with the German marque returning to the sport as a works team in 2010.

All episodes of “Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story” will be available on Disney+ and available to stream on Hulu in the U.S. on 15 November 2023.
