F1 2023 Dutch GP – Qualifying Results

Max Verstappen will start his home grand prix from pole position alongside Lando Norris after a dramatic wet-to-dry qualifying session at Zandvoort.

Verstappen’s time of 1:10.567 was half-a-second clear of that of Norris. George Russell and Alex Albon will occupy the second row of the grid.

Qualifying began in intermediate conditions, but standing water and low visibility caused a challenge for all drivers.

A dry line wouldn’t form until the end of Q2 with those who began their final lap last rewarded greatly. Both Williams made it through to Q3 for the first time since Monza 2017 while Lewis Hamilton was eliminated after jumping the gun with his final flying lap.

The atmosphere at Williams was dampened by a crash for Logan Sargeant moments after he completed a first flying lap in Q3. The American dipped a wheel outside of the dry line and ended his session in the barriers at Turn 2.

Charles Leclerc also found the barriers after understeering off track at Turn 9, bringing out a second red flag.
