Ferrari will make a donation of €1 million to the Emilia Romagna Region’s Agency for Territorial Safety and Civil Protection amid severe floods in the region.
Nine fatalities have been confirmed amid the adverse conditions, with thousands forced to evacuate their homes.
F1’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, which was scheduled to take place this weekend, has been called off in the interest of safety and to not place further pressure on local authorities.
With the pack-up process underway at the Imola track, Ferrari, one of the world’s leading sportscar manufacturers that also field an F1 team, is offering a sizeable donation to the region.
“In times of difficulty, Ferrari has always stood by its community,” said Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna.
“We wanted to provide a concrete and immediate response to the most urgent needs of the population of Emilia-Romagna, which has been tried by a serious environmental disaster.
“With the coordination of the local authorities, to whom our heartfelt thanks go for their tireless work, this aid will bring comfort and a tangible sign of the solidarity of the entire Ferrari family.”
Various other fundraisers have been set up to help the people of the area.
