Lando Norris apologised for his recent clashes with the media

Lando Norris has admitted he’s “not the best in front of the media” after clashes during recent Formula 1 races.

Throughout his F1 career, Norris has always been candid with his emotions, whether those are positive or negative. While this has helped him build a dedicated fan base since his rookie season, it’s also often the source of criticism for the Brit.

During his 2025 championship fight, he frequently came under fire for his attitude and comments as he battled Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri.

His most recent backlash came from comments he made about Franco Colapinto.

After the Argentine caused a collision in Baku that caught up the reigning champion, he told the media that Colapinto “shouldn’t be in Formula 1”. He went further, saying such incidents deserve race bans.

Not long after, the Brit apologised for his comments.

Just a few weekends later, Norris and Piastri crashed in the Singapore Grand Prix sprint race after the McLaren driver made a bold, arguably poorly judged move that ended Piastri’s race and left Norris clinging to the points.

In the media pen after the sprint, an interview with Viaplay went viral on social media as the interviewer asked the reigning champion if the move was worth it, as it was a sprint. Norris was snarky in his response, asking the reporter:  “What’s the title of the race? Sprint … What’s after sprint?”

The reporter replied, “race”, to which Norris sarcastically retorted: “Wow, good job. Yeah, it’s race!”

Later, in an interview with Martin Brundle, Norris opened up about his regrets and wished he could take back some of the comments or do better in front of F1 media. He urged that he ‘hates’ that he might have disrespected someone.

“I’m not the best in front of the media sometimes. I hate the fact that when I say the wrong things, or I might disrespect someone when I say something, I hate that,” Norris said.

“I go home, and I just question it for hours. Why I said what I said, why I did what I did.”

Brundle tried to justify and ease Norris’ worries, telling him that his openness is often what fans love about the McLaren driver. However, Norris said: “Yeah, but there’s a line.

“I completely understand that bit, but there’s nothing more that I love than respect, receiving respect, and I know it has to go the other way.”
