The Cadillac Formula 1 Team has confirmed that Sergio Perez will remain at the team until 2029, following a successful first year with the American marque.
Cadillac made its much-awaited debut in F1 in 2026 after years of preparation, adding two more cars to the grid.
The team opted for experience for its driver lineup, choosing race winners Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez to aid the team though navigating the challenges of a maiden season in F1.
Although Cadillac has been rooted to the bottom of the standings, Perez has extracted maximum out of the MAC-26, leading the team to extend his contract, keeping at the team until 2029.
Joining Cadillac from day one was a project I truly believed in, and extending my commitment feels like a natural continuation of this chapter,” Perez said.
“Building a Formula 1 team from the ground up takes time, relentless work and patience, but the progress we are making together is incredibly rewarding.
“There is still a lot of work ahead of us and I am fully committed for the next three years.
“I want to thank Dan [Towriss], Mark [Reuss] and everyone at TWG Motorsports and General Motors for the opportunity to build on what we have started together.
“To every member of this special team, at the track, in the US, the UK, and our fans, thank you for your support and trust. I won’t let you down. Let’s keep pushing!”
Perez and Cadillac are still awaiting their first points of the year, with the 36-year-old’s best result this far in 2026 being a 14th-place finish.

Cadillac counting on Sergio Perez ”talent and leadership”
Team Principal Dan Towriss detailed, on the eve of Perez’s home race in Mexico, the skills that his driver brings to the team.
“On the eve of a special weekend in Mexico City, we’re thrilled to announce that Checo will remain an integral part of the Cadillac team for years to come.
“Building a competitive team in F1 is a long-term journey, and securing Checo’s talent and leadership gives us the continuity and commitment we need to build on the strong foundation established in our first year.
“Together, we are focused on the next phase of our journey, pushing the team forward and making progress up the grid.”
Perez’s signature guarantees continuity for the team in 2027, providing foundations as Cadillac aims to make progress up the competitive order.
