Audi Formula Racing has named Thomas Fuhr as its first-season Formula 1 driver as the season comes to an end.
The appointment takes effect on November 1, with Fuhr taking over the Audi F1 Project as the team heads into its first winter break as an F1 team. Fuhr brings more than 30 years of engineering and leadership experience to the team.
Including time as the Managing Director of Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains between 2009 and 2012.
This change allows Stefan Dreyer, Audi’s Formula Racing Chief Technology Officer, to focus on power unit development, while Christian Foyer, the team’s current Chief Operating Officer, will remain in his role and continue overseeing the team’s day-to-day operations at their home site in Neuburg.

Mattia Binotto, Audi’s team principal, expressed, “We have built strong foundations in Neuburg, developing Audi’s first Formula 1 power unit from the ground up.”
“As Thomas understands both the technical challenge and what it takes to build and lead high-performing teams, I am confident he will play a key role by further developing the team and its organisation to make us the best F1 manufacturer.
“I am very much looking forward to welcoming him to the team.”
The team currently sits eighth in the Constructors’ Championship and is looking to climb the order in the coming years.
