Rafael Camara has acknowledged there is a “lot to learn” ahead of his debut season in Formula 1 with Haas in 2027.
The Brazilian youngster has been confirmed for being one of the Banbury-based American squad’s drivers for next season, following a still ongoing but ultimately impressive Formula 2 campaign with Invicta Racing.
Camara, like Oliver Bearman, makes the seamless jump to F1 with Ferrari Driver Academy credentials, with Haas remaining as a power unit customer to the Scuderia.
Like compatriot Gabriel Bortoleto, Camara will be hoping to secure back-to-back feeder series titles in F2 from F3 on his way to F1, as he continues to lead the Drivers’ Championship with Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov hot on his heels.
In a statement, Camara indicated that his aim before formally taking on his F1 duties is to “develop” further to be ready for his maiden campaign.
“I’m very happy to be joining TGR Haas F1 Team as a Formula 1 driver,” he said.

“It’s an important step in my career and I want to thank Gene Haas and Ayao Komatsu for the trust they have placed in me.
“I’m also very grateful to the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy for their support and for everything they have contributed to my development over the years, as well as to my family for always being there throughout this journey.
“Now my focus is on preparing myself in the best possible way for this new challenge.
“There will be a lot to learn, and I’m looking forward to working closely with the team, understanding the car and continuing to develop as a driver.”
